It's alright, there's nothing to apologize for. I only wanted to check in with you. I've been curious.
I've been doing fine, myself. Although, I did make a trip into the woods outside the city. If you happen to go that way, please be careful. It is dangerous.
[it's potentially an accidental text, but it's a picture of a butterfly or a moth, smooth and greenish-blue in color.]
It's called a lunar moth. Isn't it pretty? Apparently the larvae emit clicks as a warning and can also regurgitate intestinal contents to deter predators.
I wonder if it does hurt them? It's a defense mechanism, so I don't think it would do anything that would kill it in order to keep itself from dying. I suppose people have done painful things to evade that before though.
It would work to deter me, at least.
I know some insects make themselves look like other things though. I think it's the lunar mother whose caterpillar stage looks like a snake to deter predators too.
[The scent of the rain lingers long after it falls on East Sophia, Rinne's next destination after his stint in Gloria. It's a downgrade, for sure, but Malkuth and Takasugi promised good things for this city. Rinne wants to do the same. With a newer guitar case, he answers each stare with a smirk, as if to let them know who they should watch out for before he starts soaring.
But as Rinne passes another speakeasy, he spots something peculiar from the corner of his eye.]
[He stands like a statue at the entrance - a hunched thing, like a vulture turned into a man. As always, his expression is inscrutable, staring at some horizon point (or rather, nothing in particular) - but then the shock of red hair appears, and his pale eyes brighten with recognition.]
...Rinne. [And a confused look, processing the question.] Oh? No. I'm working.
[ Already, Malkuth's absence is like a raw wound torn into their days here. No doubt Sariel feels it, too; he and Malkuth get along well, clearly fond of each other. ]
...If several of us are searching for Malkuth, we will cover more ground, even now.
[ This month has caused fresh harm, but Malkuth must be safe. She is capable, after all, and hardly defenseless. They will find her. ]
[ malkuth is... finally well enough to do more than just the small tasks about the house, and though she's put up much of her art materials
tomorrow weighs heavy on her shoulders and heart, staring at the calendar hung on the living room wall (which does, of course, has her own birthday marked with ducks, that is for you,) with a somewhat absent gaze. a similar one she'd worn back in the forest, albeit with less deer-like eyes, and while her pronged horns have begun to regain their height... there's a sort of woody-ness to it.
her ears turn at the sound of sariel returning home though and her head follows with it, the footsteps familiar and comforting. ]
Welcome home, Sariel. [ she seems well at least. better than she has been, lain in bed. ] Do you have some time? I wanted to hang out for a little bit.
[ which... she doesn't really need to ask for his time, she knows that, it's just-- a little awkward, somehow. on her end. ]
[Of course he does. He always does for Malkuth. He's glad she's home - its soothing to think of her close by, rather than in the woods somewhere. She almost seems to have brought the woods back with her, even though he knows that's a bit of an illogical thought.]
[Speaking of the woods, though, he approaches, pulling out some flowers from a pouch.]

ants and bugs...
this is a very beautiful moth
i can't imagine how much it would hurt to throw up your own intestinal contents though

You keep walking out of places and not paying.
Do they not hand you a bill?
Do I need to teach you how to keep your books?
[ silco, budgeting is an advanced skill right now, let's start small ]
I did not realize this was so dire.
