[The scent of the rain lingers long after it falls on East Sophia, Rinne's next destination after his stint in Gloria. It's a downgrade, for sure, but Malkuth and Takasugi promised good things for this city. Rinne wants to do the same. With a newer guitar case, he answers each stare with a smirk, as if to let them know who they should watch out for before he starts soaring.
But as Rinne passes another speakeasy, he spots something peculiar from the corner of his eye.]
[He stands like a statue at the entrance - a hunched thing, like a vulture turned into a man. As always, his expression is inscrutable, staring at some horizon point (or rather, nothing in particular) - but then the shock of red hair appears, and his pale eyes brighten with recognition.]
...Rinne. [And a confused look, processing the question.] Oh? No. I'm working.
Yeah, no kidding. Been dyin' to check this place out myself! Never made it to this side of Karteria 'til now.
[Takasugi told him not to tell anyone about his involvement, though... Honestly, Rinne shouldn't be booking gigs here alone to begin with. But if Sariel's here, then it should be fine.]
So what's the deal with this joint, anyway? You never see ads like, "Wanted: One Augmented Bouncer" anywhere. Makes me wonder what's inside...
[Does he not know about the place he's guarding......Sarry............]
I think Silco said some deals get made here sometimes. I guess they don't want to be disturbed. Or maybe if there's trouble, I can help. I haven't seen anything though.
In any case, that tracks with what Takasugi was telling them about East Sophia. Was this what he wanted them to avoid? But Sariel's involved... Rinne should tread carefully. He keeps his tone light. He's not here to investigate. He's just curious.]
What kind of trouble you gotta deal with, Sarry? I thought you just wanted to act and watch ants.
[Well, at least Sariel's happy. It doesn't dispel his worries about Sariel's involvement in something shady, but at least it doesn't sounds like they're hurting him. ]
That's right — you're an angel. Not that I'm familiar with the myths, but... You've lived way longer than me, yeah?
What exactly is an angel supposed to do, anyway? There's angels, fallen angels, demons, and I know which side they're on, but it's all a mess in my head.
[Rinne is a small baby bird compare with his old ass.]
Ah. Angels are...primal beasts. Created for a purpose. The elements, concepts like incubation...many of us. Don't exactly serve those purposes anymore.
[ ...The words are so familiar, they make Rinne want to cry.
He's not about to show that side of him to Sariel, though. He might be human, but he can be strong for the people he cares for. And right now, Sariel needs that strength.
Yes. If he were the perfect person for his brother to find, Rinne would work up a smile and say, ]
You think we can find that rainbow here? Maybe I can help ya look for it.
That feels like a very. You thing to say. [But its obvious he's not saying this to be disparaging, as he's smiling.] Things are already interesting. You make things interesting, too. But if you want to, I would be happy.
... I dunno. A joint like this is where people end up when they got nowhere else to go. When folks are down on their luck, it's up to folks like me to pick 'em back up. They say this place is the pits, but seeing the crowd smile even just for a little while makes me happy. Working here's gonna make me happy for sure.
action, september
But as Rinne passes another speakeasy, he spots something peculiar from the corner of his eye.]
Sarry?
[bro wtf]
You lost or somethin'?

...Rinne. [And a confused look, processing the question.] Oh? No. I'm working.

[As they stand by the door, a couple of giggling woman in flapper dresses enter.]
You're a bouncer now?
no subject
[He doesn't seem to be moving to stop the women, though. Maybe he's guarding it because of something else.]
Do you want to go inside? You can...go ahead. If you want.
no subject
Nah, I was on my way to a gig... Do you know where this is?
[The address Rinne gives is the exact one Sariel's at.]
no subject
[A glance back at the door, and then at Rinne.]
It's here. You're....performing?
no subject
[Takasugi told him not to tell anyone about his involvement, though... Honestly, Rinne shouldn't be booking gigs here alone to begin with. But if Sariel's here, then it should be fine.]

[No one needs to hurt other people. Everyone is happy. Yaaay.]
I've done a lot of jobs before, you know.

Well, ain't that a good thing? You get to be whatever you want now. Not everyone's got that sort of freedom, you know? You're pretty lucky.
no subject
I suppose. But I don't know...what to do. Except search for the rainbow. So I can get his answer...
no subject
The Deputy Head Researcher? Hehhhh. You really love this guy, doncha, Sarry?
no subject
[He seems a bit confused. Love....]
[What is love, anyways? He's seen people talk about it, but....]
I...don't know. But I want to see him again.

He's not about to show that side of him to Sariel, though. He might be human, but he can be strong for the people he cares for. And right now, Sariel needs that strength.

[The offer is sincere, but unexpected. Sariel stares at him. Not that he thinks he'll take it back, but-]
You would? That's...kind of you. Why?
no subject
[Because he wants to see him, too. He wants to know the kind of person who would make a heart like Sariel's want to thank him.
Then maybe Rinne can finally see what he himself lacked as family.]
Lemme see him, Sarry. I bet he'll make things interesting around here!
no subject
[Because he's interesting?]
That feels like a very. You thing to say. [But its obvious he's not saying this to be disparaging, as he's smiling.] Things are already interesting. You make things interesting, too. But if you want to, I would be happy.

[ Making Sariel wander like this forever with his memory like a curse... It's not right. Rinne is painfully aware of that. ]
no subject
[Rinne leans in. He doesn't lean away. Instead he stands, clear surprise on his features, but stalwart all the same.]
I don't know why you would. But I wouldn't want you to do that. He's powerful. I don't want you to fight.
[Neither Rinne or the Deputy Head need to be hurt, no matter the situation.]
no subject
[Even so, Rinne leans back and smiles.]
But I think I got friends who'd help me out. If that Deputy Head saw how many friends you've made, I bet he'd be pretty happy. Not that I'd know!
...You think he'd be happy with you working here?
no subject
[To confirm. He doesn't know what the Deputy Head would think about Rinne. They're similar. And yet, internally...]
[Somehow he feels he knows Rinne better. The Deputy Head feels like a haze on the horizon. But he still....wants to understand.]
...I. Don't know. [A beat.] Are you happy I'm working here?
no subject
Does your work make ya feel that way?
