Not exactly. I fixed a machine of theirs a while back with a couple of whacks, and so I'm familiar with the landowners. That's all. You could say we've a business partnership of some sort.
( takasugi's in his usual get-up, the iconic traditional wear not a favorite of the citizens for how partially revealing it is.
a red, fluffy tail sways casually behind him, thinning out with the summer heat. he gives sariel a casual smile, seeing that he isn't a chitinous creature crawling around the dirt or anything strange like that this time. did that pep talk they had a while back about identity help any, he wonders? not that he's going to ask. )
Feeding the livestock will be a benefit to the staff that're already swamped with other work in this perpetual heatwave. And, it'll be fun, right? They've got cows, and goats, and... you know. Chickens.
( which, he figures they'll scatter the sight of him. )
[He's not judging, just a patient little reminder, though he knows Takasugi knows himself better than he ever will.]
Let's get the food, then. [He eyes the tail - how fluffy it is! - before he shifts towards the farm. It is hot, but he's never paid attention to something like that, even with his dark clothing.] You can choose who we start out with.
( in fact, no one's accused him of such a thing yet. attacking livestock? it turns in his mind, unbeknownst to sariel.
will he do that, eventually? become a beast so unreasonable that it's not even entertaining? takasugi's mouth creases into a thin line. but it's brief, before he's all wry smile and a hand of goat feed.
the goats are naturally wary of him. they do butt their little heads against sariel, though. which. fine. he's takasugi shinsaku of choshu, not takasugi shinsaku the goat herder. )
( he crouches, trying to look a little less intimidating. come on, goats. )
You're looking a touch more put-together than the last time we met, you know. Make any new friends? The sort to keep your Natural Soul from going haywire?
[The goats are gentle and playful. They may butt his legs, but he pays it no mind. They're hardly worse than sharks, ans pne of his friends is one. Goats never have to worry about being misunderstood, too.]
[It must be such a nice life.]
[He holds out his hand, lets them shuffle over it, before reaching for the feed.]
You should be nice to Takasugi, too.
[To the goats, as if they can understand him.]
Mm. Yes. You caught me at....a strange time. I'm sorry about last time. [An awkward pause.] I've met people. If you are talking about...imprinting. I haven't made any new ones. Have you?
[The sentence doesn't end. Maybe Takasugi isn't sure. He isn't the type to pry (and he doesn't know much as to how to besides asking blatant questions) so he just sighs a little, tilts his head like a curious little animal.]
...Oh! Amagi. Rinne. [And now he's smiling warmly, happy to hear the name of the man.] I like him a lot. He reminds me of someone I'm looking for. And it makes me happy to hear...I'm on that list. So thank you.
[He notices the tensing up and cuts himself off, almost tensing up himself. Maybe its his own instinct. Maybe its the Natural Soul. Maybe he just feels something is amiss, subconsciously.]
[Either way, he's reaching forward, hand on his shoulder.]
( like a carving knife slicing straight through a thick fog, the touch is clear and immediate. the shape of their situation, and what he's really supposed to be, comes floating back to the front of his mind.
only he can't seem to relax his shoulders any. )
Maybe that's enough fun for me for one day, actually. Or I'll just watch from outside the gate.

( last out at his fellow humans, the spite tucked deep between his ribs.
takasugi waves a hand dismissively at the rest, still crouching a little distance away. )
Not to worry. We're all adjusting, for better or for worse. And of course, I've made them. I wouldn't say I've Imprinted on all of them, but.
( one second. honestly, it shouldn't even take that long. because of course he has them, yeah? )
There's Amagi-kun, Shiina-kun ( he's just naming his band ok ) ... Eleanor, ... you.

all this, from what takasugi said on a whim. but he doesn't clarify when it comes to trailing off. )
Reminds you of someone? Do tell. I noticed you two chatting on the universal network. It was cute. Something about kisses being prohibited.
( el oh el )

Oh, he reminds me of the Deputy Head Researcher. A bold personality. Somewhat playful. Hard to read...but very kind.
[And yes, about the kisses...he nods, serious.]
He said they were dangerous. I never heard such a thing, but maybe he knows a lot about them...

( he's obviously enjoying this topic, smirking with a fist resting against his cheek and an elbow against his knee. )
But honestly, you really won't know until you try. Being close is the best way to keep the Natural Soul in check, too, apparently.

[Another pause, ruminating on it. Rinne was so sure. So adamant.]
So kissing can actually...help?

SOMEONE... GIVE TAKASUGI SOME IMPULSE CONTROL!!!!!!!! )
Sure it can. And it feels even better here.
( how to describe this. hmm. )
Like a warmth seeping right through you to the bone.

Let's say there's a 0.00005 percent chance you might die upon kissing someone. The event is rare, but not quite impossible. Why deny yourself the—

[The tension is still there. Sariel glances at the goats, before his blue eyes slide to Takasugi once more.]
Let's go, then. You shouldn't...do something you're not comfortable with.
🎀
but that just means something good, right? it's a reassuring note, sariel's attempt at comfort. there's nothing alien to it.
it's human.
he gives sariel a wry smile, staring directly up at his freakishly tall form before rising to his feet in turn. )
I wouldn't say it made me uncomfortable, but... alright. I'll get us something nice on the way back.
( he pats sariel on the shoulder, guiding him in a different direction. )
