[Here's an angel in a library....though, he's not at all looking at the books. Instead, he's sitting on a table, looking very intently at a glass jar in his hands.]
[He doesn't even notice her approach. He seems entirely fixated on his jar...which seems to be filled with little floating lights.]
[ an angel and a magical reactor walk into a library. there’s no punchline because they just found out that they’re supposed to kill each other for some stupid spell and one of the people she shared the villa with has died.
ayaka walks into the library with zero books in her hand. she sits down in front of him and just kind of… stares. would he be capable of murder? he said something about execution, but he’s so focused on that jar…
but then again, she’s a killer too, isn’t she? what gives her the right to judge when she’s just as bad? ]
[He lifts his head slowly, noticing she's there, before his gaze awkwardly moves back to the jar. It's quite clear up close that this is a jar of fireflies.]
I... didn't see her body. [ her throat tightens at the idea of her body. how did she die? ayaka has no idea, and that only lets her imagination run. ] But I... don't think he was lying about this.
[ they just pulled an all-nighter to find a culprit and it ended up being an amnesiac guy. one of her villa-mates is dead and another is god knows how. yeah, it's a pretty mid day. ]

Oh...no. The Magnificent Mole Troupe. Mysterious? It was a Mole Troupe.

ayaka walks into the library with zero books in her hand. she sits down in front of him and just kind of… stares. would he be capable of murder? he said something about execution, but he’s so focused on that jar…

Hey. Are those bugs?
no subject
[He lifts his head slowly, noticing she's there, before his gaze awkwardly moves back to the jar. It's quite clear up close that this is a jar of fireflies.]
Yes. They have little lights.
[He doesn't know what they're called.]
no subject
[ this is a joke, right? she’s feeling an oppressive guilt in her chest over the death of one of their own and here she is, talking about bugs. ]
Fireflies. [ she pauses, and then adds, just in case: ] That’s what they’re called. Fireflies.
no subject
[He falls into silence again, his expression...barely even there, but there's a tightness in his eyes.]
So that man wasn't lying, was he.
[About someone being dead.]

I... didn't see her body. [ her throat tightens at the idea of her body. how did she die? ayaka has no idea, and that only lets her imagination run. ] But I... don't think he was lying about this.
no subject
[Like. How can they believe what he says? At all?]
no subject
[ she, right now, doesn't know who or what to believe. when it comes to magic, not even your own memory or sight can be reliable. ]
POST TRIAL BABEYyy
and... she finds it, but with the addition of a certain sariel. ]
Um...
[ does she disturb him? what's he up to? ]

[Her voice is noted, though, and he glances over.]
Ayaka. Is everything okay?
no subject
[ they just pulled an all-nighter to find a culprit and it ended up being an amnesiac guy. one of her villa-mates is dead and another is god knows how. yeah, it's a pretty mid day. ]
How about you?
no subject
[He's just going to look up, again.]
I still don't understand...why it happened. Why he killed her to begin with. Nothing make sense....
no subject
[ maybe that's not the right thing to be mad about, but... ]
If it really was just a fight, then... why not go ahead and say it? I feel like many would have accepted it. [ ... ] But if this is what Ish called 'unlocking our hearts', then he's an idiot. He drove two people to murder.

[He closes his eyes, before raising his hands to cup over them, exhausted.]
I wish I was smart enough to...understand.

[ ... ]
Still looking for ants?
no subject
[Peeking through his fingers at her...]
Not at this moment, no.
no subject
What are you up to, then?
no subject
[Thinking anyways.]

[it's Bad]
What would you like to think about, instead?
no subject
[ oh she did not expect to have that question turned on her! ]
Um... honestly, I don't know. I, uh, was recently made to think about...friends, I guess?
no subject
[fwends]

[ she wrings her hands. ]
Maybe I do? I'm not sure. I've been alone for too long.

no subject
[Maybe there is a point to being alone. Nobody bothers you.]
You're nice to me. But I suppose I understand.
no subject
[ well, at least she's self aware. she breathes out a sigh. ]
Do you have friends?

WEEK TWO POST TRIAL
[An awkward little hand to her back. Pat, pat.]
Ayaka. How do you....feel?
no subject
unlike a few weeks ago, she has none of the joy or energy to be petting the sleepy capybaras. she strokes it slowly, tears slowly rolling down her cheeks as if in automatic.
it takes a few seconds for sariel's pats to register. another couple more for the question. ]
We're sending an innocent person to die. You tell me.
no subject
[He bumps his feathery head against hers, gently.]
[He has no words, himself. He knows. He knows that's what's going on.]
[And they can't do anything about it.]
no subject
[ ayaka doesn't jerk away as his head touches hers. she's frozen in place, eyes wide as she keeps her gaze still on the sleeping capybara.
she thought she was done sobbing. she's not. ]
I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
no subject
[Did she vote for Siffrin? Maybe. Maybe not.]
I just hope it won't be like last time.
[Though it probably will be.]
no subject
It’ll be the same. I’m sure of it.
[ to make sure that they all suffer for as long as possible. ]
no subject
[That makes him fall into silence again for a moment.]
Have you talked with them? With Siffrin?
no subject
They weren’t happy. Obviously.
[ she didn’t expect them to be. ]
no subject
[Will they ever say anything?]
no subject
[ she breathes out a shaky sigh. between blade turning into a frog and andrew's accusations, the end of the trial was like a hurried blur to ayaka. ]
If this happens again I think we need to be more organized. Probably. If they won't say anything, then... we have to force them to come out.
